Belton, Texas (KWTX) The first woman elected as a Bell County Judicial District Court Judge, is retiring after 23 years on the bench.

A retirement party was held for 264th District Court Judge Martha Trudo at the Bell County Justice Center Friday afternoon to celebrate her illustrious career. Many people came to the court room to give Judge Trudo well wishes on the next step in her life.
Judge Trudo has hundreds of cases under her belt but she said there are many that she will never forget.
“Those kinds of tragic cases which leaves family members on both sides struggling not touch the victim's family but defendant’s families suffer as well,” said Judge Trudo.

She also said that she hope people won’t forget her and that they appreciate everything she tried to do while on the bench.

Judge Trudo will continue hear cases that she has already started and an interim judge will hold the seat until the next election.
