Update: Flooded roadway leads to swift water rescue

Wednesday afternoon,Temple firefighters responded at the request of Troy Fire Department to a reported Swiftwater rescue call in the 14500 Block of Old Troy Road.
An elderly male was attempting to cross a low water crossing when his truck was swept downstream.
The driver was in his vehicle which was about 6 feet from the bank.
Swiftwater technicians with the department placed a life jacket on him and removed him from his truck.
Crews positioned a ladder between the bank and the truck to create a path to dry ground. He was conscious and speaking with EMS.
Temple Fire Public Information Officer Thomas Pechal says the individual was rescued from the vehicle shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
