(KWTX) The number of flu cases nationwide is at a high for this early in the season, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.
The CDC is also reporting five pediatric deaths.
In McLennan County there are more than triple the amount of cases this year compared to this time last year.
Waco-McLennan County Health District spokeswoman Kelly Craine says 223 cases of the flu have been reported in the county so far this year and the peak of the flu season still lies ahead.
“It is important people get their flu shot now, it’s not too late,” Craine said.
