Students in the Aquilla Independent School District will get a three-day weekend because of a flu outbreak.
A letter that Superintendent Dr. David Edison sent home to parents Thursday says the district’s absentee rate has increased 20 percent since Tuesday.
“Because your student’s safety and health is a top priority for Aquilla ISD, we have decided to close our doors Friday January 20, 2017,” he wrote.
The district “has hired additional assistance to clean and disinfect all areas of our school buildings and buses,” the superintendent wrote.
