FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) Fort Hood held its ninth annual Trees for Troops program Thursday at Hood Stadium.

Soldiers went to the stadium to pick out any tree free of charge.

The Family, Moral, Welfare and Recreation Office and FedEx brought in 300 trees for the soldiers and their families as a way to say thank you for your service

Staff Sgt. Miriam Hernandez says this is a good thing for the soldiers because it helps them give their kids a merry Christmas.

“It's awesome that they're actually doing this for the soldiers and having that opportunity to come and get an actual live tree instead of going out and buying one,” Hernandez said.

FMWR is giving out 50 more trees at the festival of love event on post this Saturday.
