Fort Hood soldier who died from illness identified

A 26-year-old Fort Hood soldier who died from complications from an illness has been identified as 26-year-old Pfc. Kai Yemale Yancey, according to a release from Fort Hood.

Yancey, who is from El Paso Texas, died on New Year's Day.

He entered the military in February 2015, and was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division in 2016.

Yancey had been awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
