Temple: Fourteen snared in local prostitution sting
Temple police and Bell County deputies arrested 14 people in a two-day sex trafficking, pimp, prostitution and John sting in Central Texas last Thursday and Friday, authorities said Wednesday.
Twelve Johns were arrested for agreeing to engage in a sexual act for a fee, six of whom were Fort Hood soldiers.
Two women were arrested for prostitution, a class A misdemeanor, bot of whom are also on probation for felony narcotics charges.
"This operation hopefully sends a message that these acts will not be tolerated in our city and our county. Temple PD will continue to vigilantly fight against sex trafficking while protecting those who are victimized by this industry," said Sgt. Michael Bolton, of the Temple Police Department's Violent Crime Enforcement Squad.
A total of 11 likely victims of sex trafficking were identified
AWARE Central Texas provided them with assistance.
Additional charges are possible in the ongoing investigation, authorities said.
