FREESTONE COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) Six more Freestone County deputies have bulletproof vests, thanks to a grant from the U.S. Justice Department.
Three of the deputies didn't have vests at all while the others needed replacements.
"Thanks to the great assistance received from Sheriff's Administrator Mary Donald in her grant writing that helped us get these funds," Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley said..
"We are very appreciative for the opportunity to be able to try for this grant and thankful for actually being awarded it."
"We will continue to look for other options of funding to equip our deputies and our office with the necessary items and tools they need to perform their duties for our citizens safely," he said.
