Fort Hood soldier killed in single car accident in Nolanville
A Fort Hood Soldier died Saturday morning following a single car accident on Interstate 14.
Tyler James Groves, 21, of Elizabeth Colo., was the only person in the vehicle.
According to Nolanville Police Chief Daniel Porter, at 9:52 a.m. police responded to a citizen's report on eastbound Interstate 14 east of the Nola Ruth overpass.
The report said the car ran off the road was on the bank of Nolan Creek between the main lanes of the highway and the eastbound service road.
Police said this location is heavily wooded and the car was partially hidden by brush and overgrowth.
Crews found the blue 2018 Honda Civic with only one person inside.
Groves was deceased.
Authorities estimated the accident happened in the early morning hours and that speed may have been a factor.
Bell County Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.
The body was taken to Centex Mortuary in Temple where an inquest will be conducted.
Groves was a specialist at Fort Hood assigned to the First Cavalry Division.
