Central Texas gas pipeline explosion under investigation

ROBERTSON COUNTY (JANUARY 9, 2016) Multiple agencies were responding to a Saturday afternoon gas pipeline explosion in Robertson County, 13 miles east of Franklin.

According to Sheriff Gerald Yezak, the explosion happened on James Cemetery Road south of Camp Creek Lake at around 4:00 p.m.

Yezak said the fire from the pipe was out but crews were containing a small grass fire.

Yezak said the explosion came from a 30-inch pipeline operated by Atmos.

Company spokesperson Chace Murphy said Atmos crews responded and were investigating the scene.

Sheriff's deputies went to homes in the area to evacuate residents, though Yezak said most residents weren't home.

No injuries were reported as of Saturday evening.

Residents about 30 miles away from the explosion reported feeling their homes shake.
