GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) Coryell County Sheriff’s Deputies surrounded a Gatesville business late Tuesday afternoon after one of them spotted a stolen vehicle parked outside.

Chief Deputy Rob Atkins said one of his deputies was on a routine patrol when he spotted a vehicle that matched a pickup that had been reported stolen from Moody in McLennan County.

Atkins said the deputy went inside the EZPAWN Pawn Shop, at 103 North Lutterloh, and identified the man who parked the truck outside.

Jody Giger was arrested on an unrelated warrant for a motion to revoke his probation for an earlier charge of abandoning a child.

Atkins said the pickup truck, which belongs to Giger’s ex-girlfriend, was impounded and is awaiting transfer to McLennan County.

Giger was not immediately charged with auto theft.

“We’ll transfer him to their (McLennan County’s) custody and they’ll have to decide if they’re going to charge him for that,” Atkins said.
