GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) Gatesville police are investigating a “vague message” reported by a concerned student Monday.

The letter sent to parents.

According to a letter sent to parents by Gatesville High School Principal Yancey Sanderson, the report was about a “very vague message about 12/12/17.”

"While there were not many specifics given, a concerned student brought it to the attention of school administration, where we began investigating the report immediately," Sanderson said.

Rumors spread among the student body following the report, which Sanderson called 'unfounded' and 'untrue.'

"With support from Gatesville Police Department, we have investigated these reports thoroughly, and do not have any reliable information about any dire or dangerous situation happening at GHS," Sanderson said.

Gatesville police officials confirmed they were aware of the situation, and sent extra officers to patrol the school Tuesday morning as a precaution.

Parents with questions are asked to contact (254) 865-8281.
