WACO, Texas (KWTX) It's that time of the year: Girl Scout Cookies are going on sale on Wednesday, January 15th.
The cookies cost $4 and are available January 15th - February 23rd.
This year, the cookies will come in new packaging meant to emphasizes what the Girl Scout Cookie program is all about.
Updated images in the packaging will feature current Girl Scouts taking part in a diverse range of experiences available to members: from adventure-packed camping and canoeing, to exploring space science and designing robots, to taking action to improve their communities.
The membership of Girl Scouts of Central Texas includes nearly 17,000 girls and more than 12,000 adults.
11,251 girls participated in last year's cookie program. The Girl Scouts of Central Texas anticipate similar participation this year.
Last year, they sold 2,819,982 boxes of cookies. Each girl sold an average of 251 boxes.
The Girl Scouts of Central Texas grossed more than $11 million dollars in cookie sales.
51 percent of proceeds go to Girl Scouts programming; 35 percent to the Troop and Service Unit; and 14 percent fund development, management and administration.
Money raised from the sale of Girl Scout Cookies in Central Texas stays in Central Texas.
