Groesbeck: Prankster sets fire to high school’s bonfire woodpile

GROESBECK, Texas (KWTX) Police are searching for the person who lit the Groesbeck High School homecoming bonfire about 36 hours ahead of schedule early Thursday morning.

Crews responded at around 5:20 a.m. Thursday to the 300 block of East Jacinto Street where they found the bonfire woodpile burning.

The firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly.

Witnesses spotted an older model flatbed pickup in the area.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Groesbeck Police Department at (254) 729-3497.

Groesbeck High School's annual Homecoming celebration is Friday.
