Harker Heights firefighters spent an hour Friday morning dousing a vehicle fire that spread to grass and brush in a surrounding field.

Firefighters were sent at about 5:30 a.m. Friday to the 2800 block of Cedar Knob Road after a caller reported a vehicle was ablaze.

When they arrived the firefighters had trouble getting to the vehicle because it was on the other side of a fence, which eventually they cut to gain access to the fire.

The fire spread to surrounding grass and brush but never threatened any structures.

It took crews about an hour to get the blaze out.

No one was inside the car and no one was injured, firefighters at the scene said.

The blaze remains under investigation.
