A house fire Thursday evening in Harker Heights that displaced a family of four was apparently started by a lightning strike, officials say.

The fire was reported at around 5:40 p.m. Thursday at 814 Tuscan Rd.

The first crews found flames in the attic of the two-story brick veneer wood frame home.

“Due to the wind conditions at the time, the intensity of the fire grew quickly,” Harker Heights Fire Marshal Brad Alley said.

No injuries were reported, but the house received extensive damage, he said.
