Police look for leads in shooting that left local man dead
Police were looking for leads Monday after a weekend shooting that left a Killeen man lying dead in an intersection in a residential neighborhood in Harker Heights.
Larry James Sterling, 35, of Killeen, was pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday morning at the intersection of West Beeline Lane and South Roy Reynolds Drive in Harker Heights.
A passerby called 911 after spotting him lying in the intersection at around 2:40 a.m. Saturday.
The caller at first thought Sterling was intoxicated and had passed out, but then discovered the man was unresponsive, police said.
Officers and paramedics performed CPR in an unsuccessful attempt to revive Sterling, who had been shot repeatedly.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Harker Heights Police Department at (254) 953-5400.
