A hearse that was transporting two bodies caught on fire outside a Bellmead convenience store early Tuesday afternoon after the driver pulled over because of a mechanical problem.
The bodies, which were on gurneys, were removed from the hearse before the flames spread.
The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. Tuesday outside the Speedy Pac store at 4304 Bellmead Drive.
The covered bodies on the gurneys were left sitting in the store’s parking lot, apparently until another vehicle arrived to transport them.
No injuries were reported.
Further details weren’t immediately available.
