Hewitt: Four arrested in Walmart theft cases
Four people have been arrested in connection with two cases of theft at the same Walmart in March.
She’llra Norwood, 17, Alexis Johnson, 20, and Don Barrier, 18, have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity-theft of property over $750 and under $2,500 in connection with cell phone thefts at the new Walmart in Hewitt on March 19.
According to Hewitt Police, three people, two young women and a young man, were caught on surveillance video breaking into a cage in which iPhone 7s were secured, then loaded about $2,000 worth of the cell phones into two backpacks.
Norwood and Johnson were arrested by Waco ISD Police on April 13 at Waco High School.
It was unclear why they were at the school, but police believe one may have been a former student.
Norwood was released from jail after posting a $2,000 bond on April 15.
Johnson was released from jail after posting a $3,000 bond on April 14.
Barrier was arrested by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office on May 3 and remained in the McLennan County Jail Friday on a $3,000 bond.
Hewitt Police also had a warrant out for a man who stole a lawn mower and bottles of cologne from the same Walmart on March 10.
The man was caught on the store’s surveillance video taking the items, ditching them outside, then coming back for them later with an accomplice.
Leonard Arbor, 24, was arrested by Waco Police on April 27 on four counts of theft in connection to the Walmart case and an additional charge of fraudulent destruction for removal of writing.
Arbor remained in the McLennan County Jail Friday on bonds totaling $6,000.
The second suspect in the case remains at large.
