A Midway High School girl was jailed Tuesday after an officer was punched in the throat as he escorted her to the school office following a campus fight.
Sirena Rae Balderrama, 17, is charged with assault on a public servant and resisting arrest.
The unidentified school resource officer was not seriously hurt, Hewitt Police Chief Jim Devlin said Tuesday.
The campus fight was most over by the time the officer arrived at the school, Devlin said.
As he escorted one of the girls involved to the office, she swung at him once and missed, then swung at him again and struck him in the throat.
Balderrama’s bonds total $4,000.
Her name did not appear on the McLennan County Jail's online roster Wednesday.
