A high speed chase ended north of Waco Thursday night after authorities used spike strips to flatten both the front and back driver side tires.

The driver has been identified as 26-year old Jonathan Davis according to the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

Davis is being held at the McLennan County Jail facing charges of evading arrest.

Officials said the chase started with a traffic stop in Rockwall County around 9 p.m. which started a police chase through four counties that continued for more than an hour.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 were backed up near exit 342 in Lacy Lakeview as some traffic was diverted.

The chase went south through Dallas and Ellis Counties then Hill County and ultimately McLennan.

The chase ended on Interstate 35 near exit 339 in Waco where police shot out the tires of the suspect's vehicle.

Dispatchers in North Texas say the suspect was weaving around cars with his headlights off in a silver Mazda.

Speeds topped 100 miles per hour at times.
