State Highway 22 has been shut down for most of Saturday morning in response to a fatal accident involving a cement truck and an SUV.
The crashed happened just after 7 a.m. on SH 22 just outside of the Hillsboro city limits going west.
Police confirmed the 32 year old SUV driver David Christopher Hernandez of Abilene died on the scene.
Hernandez drove into the eastbound lane to pass another westbound vehicle and struck the concrete truck head on.
The cement truck driver sustained incapacitating injuries. He was taken to Baylor Scott and White in Waco.
Authorities have not confirmed when SH 22 will reopen but urge drivers to find an alternate route.
The crash is still under investigation.
