Early-morning fire leaves 2 area residents homeless

ABBOTT, Texas (KWTX) A fire early Wednesday morning in Abbott left two residents homeless.

Abbott volunteer firefighters responded at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to the fire on CR 3112.

Crews from Bynum and Penelope also helped battle the flames, which spread from the home to some outbuildings.

The father and son escaped safely, but some of their pets did not.

The Red Cross was providing assistance to the residents.

The home was a total loss.

The cause has not been determined.
