KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Eight-month old Landon Rasmussen died Sunday night in the pediatric intensive care unit of McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple, nearly three weeks after he was found unresponsive in a bathtub while in the care of a babysitter in Killeen.

The infant was pronounced dead just after 4:40 p.m. Sunday.

“His body was getting tired and couldn't fight much longer. Landon took his last breath in my arms and is now flying high with the angels,” his mother posted Monday on a GoFundMe page set up to help the family with expenses.

Police are investigating, but aren’t talking publicly about the incident.

“Upon the completion of the investigation, the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for their review. The DA’s office will decide if charges will be filed,” police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said Monday.

Officers and paramedics responded on the afternoon of Jan. 11 to a home on Taylor Renee Drive in Killeen, where they found the unresponsive boy.

First responders were able to resuscitate the infant, who was taken first to Metroplex Hospital in Killeen and then was transferred to the Temple hospital.
