CORONA, Calif. (AP) If Robert Plant had rejected Jimmy Page's ideas for the song "Dazed and Confused," Plant might not have been the singer for Led Zeppelin.

Page says he wanted to give Plant a try because he thought he had "an interesting range."

Page played him a version of "Dazed and Confused" that The Yardbirds had recorded.

Page says it was radical for the time to have acoustic and electric guitars and that kind of orchestration.

He says if Plant had rejected that, Page would have looked for someone else.

He also tested Plant with a version of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" that turned out so well, that's how they did it on the first Led Zeppelin album.
