The sixth annual Mary Kay 5K race is being held in Killeen on Saturday.
This is the first year that the race will be a part of the CenTex Race Series.
By participating in the series, racers can score points during the year by participating in organized runs throughout the Bell County area.
Awards will be given at a banquet in January to Overall Male and Female winners and 1st Place in all age categories based on a scoring system.
Organizers of the MK5K in Killeen are hoping that being added to the CenTex series will help draw a record crowd.
Proceeds will go toward breast cancer research and domestic violence prevention.
“In our first five years, we've raised over $20,000 for our foundation,” says Race Director Darlene Beckett.
“I think that's pretty good out of Killeen, Texas, so the community has been very giving and very supportive of our race."
Saturday’s race will be held at Ellison High School at 909 E. Elms Rd in Killeen.
Registration and packet pickup starts at 7 a.m.
Race day registration costs $30 (cash and credit cards accepted).
The race begins at 8:30 a.m.
There will also be vendors, a Zumba warm-up and an after party.
