Thirty-one others were injured when Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan opened fire in the post’s Soldier Readiness Center.

He was sentenced to death.

Monday visitors stopped by to place flowers at the memorial in Killeen erected in honor of the victims.

“I don't think I can express how wonderful it is to see this because you are so worried they are going to be forgotten and this is overwhelming. It's good to see their faces and how they incorporated their personalities so everyone can know how wonderful they were,” said Heather Hennebury, who knew four of the victims and was on post at the time of the shooting.

Hennebury said her visit the memorial Monday was her first.
