Roy Pruitt was a United States Navy veteran and served from Jan. 1964 until July 1969.
He died on Jan. 21 of natural causes.
McLennan County did a thorough search for Pruitt’s family, but the search was unsuccessful.
Lake Shore Funeral Home in Waco worked with the county to make sure veterans without immediate families have proper services.
They teamed up with the Navy Honor Guard to make sure Pruitt received his military honors.
Funeral director Larry Volcik says seeing people show up to honor someone they don’t know truly leaves a good feeling in his heart.
“It’s very important for what our veterans do for us day in and day out,” Volcik said.
“It’s an honor for us to come forward and help in situations like this.”
The Veterans Land Board makes sure no veteran is left behind by constantly working with veteran support groups and those in the community.
And thanks to them Pruitt now lays among those who were dedicated to serving the county.
