Police identify victims of murder-suicide at local convenience store

Police Monday identified the two victims of what they say was a murder-suicide at a Killeen convenience store as Samaka Racheal Powell, 27, and her husband, Raymond Deshawn Davis, 31.

Authorities initially identified Powell as Davis’ ex-boyfriend.

Police say the shooting happened at around 11:55 p.m. Saturday at the Valero Corner Store at 1000 West Stan Schlueter Loop where Powell worked.

Officers found Powell and Davis dead at the scene.

Police said Davis confronted Powell at the store earlier in the day.

She called police, but Davis was gone by the time officers arrived.

Davis later returned to the store and after the two argued, shot his wife before turning his gun on himself, police said.

Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown pronounced the victims dead at the scene.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Bell County Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS.
