Waco: Local woman turns 107 years young

It's a birthday for the books.

Friday was the 107th birthday for Ruby Strange.

Born March 29, 1912, "Miss Ruby" is one of the oldest people in McLennan County.

"I've seen the worst of the world, and the best of the world," she told KWTX.

To celebrate the milestone, Heartis Assisted Living in Waco threw a big birthday bash Friday afternoon in Strange's honor.

Guests are chocolate cake: Strange's favorite food.

Many of those who attended were her former co-workers at the McLennan County Sheriff's Office where she worked for more than 40 years.

"I've had a wonderful life," she told KWTX. "I wouldn't have traded it for nothing."

After retiring from MCSO at age 88, Strange kept driving until she was 100, and was very active on Facebook until about two years ago!

Her advice on how to age as well as she has?

"Stay with God and you'll be alright," said Strange.
