WACO, Texas (KWTX) The Fiesta Restaurant Group is closing 19 Taco Cabana restaurants in the state, including one in Waco.

The Taco Cabana at 825 South 6th St., across Interstate 35 from the Baylor University Campus, is on the closing list released Monday.

The closures are effective immediately.

Most of the employees affected by the closures will be offered jobs at other locations, the company said.

“These closures eliminate all stores with significant losses, which we expect will result in a highly viable portfolio of restaurants,” Fiesta President and Chief Executive Officer Richard Stockinger said.

The announcement did not include the Taco Cabana restaurant at 3550 South General Bruce Dr. in Temple, which remains open.
