Saturday First Baptist Church in Temple hosted their 5th annual First Blessing event where they gave more than 400 children brand new shoes.
For three-year-old, Esber Solario all he wanted was a new pair of shoes this Christmas but unfortunately, his father couldn’t afford it.
“I really don’t have any money right now to buy them shoes, so for them to give new shoes in a way like this, it means a lot,” father Esber Solario said.
Teaching Pastor at First Baptist Church Evan Duncan said this is an opportunity to make a difference in the community.
“It just becomes a way to share the love in Christmas time and that’s what we are all about here. We’ve been so loved by Christ so we want to share that love with the community and this one way we can do it,” Duncan said.
The community definitely felt the love and Christmas spirit.
“Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart and I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that, Solario said.”
Duncan said the First Blessing event is hosted in churches throughout the state. He said by the end of the year they will have provided more than 2000 kids with new shoes.
