BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) A juvenile runaway and a stolen vehicle have been recovered following a foot chase through McLennan County overnight.

The 15-year-old was reported as a runaway out of Tyler, according to MCSO officials who say he was one of four or five males who jumped out of a stolen vehicle they were following in Bellmead at around 1 a.m.

When the vehicle stopped at a home in the 1300 block of Old Dallas Rd., the deputy turned his lights on and the suspects scattered.

Deputies set up a perimeter to try to find the group with the help of Bellmead PD and Lacy Lakeview PD.

According to Lt. Joseph Ballew, they located the teen after he crawled through the window of a resident's car several houses away.

"He was sitting in the back seat and asked the owner for a ride somewhere--she called police and we came and picked him up," said Ballew.

The 15-year-old was arrested for evading on-foot and was transported to a juvenile detention facility.

Deputies are working to identify the other suspects.

The vehicle, a 2008 Toyota RAV4 SUV, was reported stolen out of Waco.
