KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A threat “of a potential act of violence” against Live Oak Ridge Middle School in Killeen is unfounded, but officials say they stepped up security at the school Wednesday as they work to “identify any students involved and determine the validity of the claim,” the Killeen ISD said in a statement.

The threat was in the form of a social media post that circulated late Tuesday that said "some kids are talking about shooting the school up."

“At this time the threat is unfounded, but as a precaution we have increased police at the campus,” the district said.

“The safety of every student, every day, is our very highest priority. Please be absolutely assured that we work closely with police to investigate any potential threat to the safety of our students and we always deal aggressively with any such report,” the district said.
