The Texas Medical Board has temporarily suspended the license of a Central Texas doctor.

The TMB announced Friday that it had made the unannounced move to suspend the license of Terry C. Lairmore, M.D. the day before because “his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.”

The doctor is based in Belton.

According to online record on the Texas Medical Board, Lairmore was practicing at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple.

According to the medical board a “panel found that Dr. Lairmore has potentially participated in patient care while under the influence of controlled substances, and based on his termination by a licensed health care entity, the evidence shows Dr. Lairmore may pose a threat to patient safety.”

The next step is a suspension hearing, unless Lairmore waives it.

The temporary suspension remains in place until the Board takes further action.
