Gus Leroy Beuershausen, 40, who was arrested on Friday and charged with sexual assault of a child, had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl “on multiple occasions” between January 2014 and September 2014 according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Monday.
Beuershausen told a Texas Ranger “he did have sex with the victim during the victim’s sophomore year of high school when the victim would have been 16 years old,” the affidavit says.
Beuershausen was booked into the jail just before 1 p.m. Friday.
Online jail records show he was arrested by the Department of Public Safety.
He was not listed on the jail’s online roster Monday.
Academy Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles notified parents by letter Friday that an Academy ISD staff member had been arrested Friday on inappropriate relationship charges.
Sprinkles did not identify the staff member.
“We have reported the arrest to (the Texas Education Agency) and as of today, the staff member is no longer employed by the Academy ISD,” Sprinkles said in the letter to parents.
“At this time, we have no evidence of any other inappropriate relationships or conduct, but we have begun an investigation to be sure no other students were affected in any way,” he said.
No further details were provided.
Beuershausen's name and photo had been removed from the district’s staff pages and directory.
In June 2017, he led Academy’s Lady Bees to claim the 3A State Softball Championship with a 5-3 win over Santa Gertrudis Academy.
In September 2017, the teams’ championship rings, valued at $7,500 were stolen from Beuershausen’s unlocked truck parked at the Villas on the Hill apartments in the 2500 block of South 31st Street in Temple.
