WACO, Texas (KWTX) “All Hail” Hailey Cowan, a Midway High School graduate who trains at Blitz Sport USA in Robinson, got her first professional win with a TKO in 1 minute and 9 seconds Friday night at the Bell County Expo Center.

That’s the third fastest finish in the world out of all MMA events last week.

“Going into this fight I knew that for the sake of my success in this sport, I had to win,” she said.

The fight in Belton was only the second of Cowan’s professional career.

The first ended in a loss in May, which came as surprise to fans and was an even bigger disappointment to Cowan, who was determined to avenge the loss Friday night.

“I wanted it to be a clear, decisive win and I wanted to outclass my opponent in every way that I possibly could. I think I was able to do that,” she said.

This time Cowan competed close to home, which made it possible for friends and family to cheer her on.

“The crowd was so loud,” she said.

“I could feel the intensity of the room as soon as I made the walk to the cage.”

Cowan competes in the women’s MMA flyweight division, consisting of athletes weighing from 116 to 126 pounds.

She weighed in at 125.4 pounds after weeks of preparation for the scale.

Fresh off the win, she was looking forward to her favorite cheat meal.

“Pizza and a Dr. Pepper!” Cowan said.

In December Cowan defeated Christina Ricker at the Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City, La., to win the inaugural flyweight title which was part of a the American Kombat Aliiance's "Rite of Passage 2" featuring former Dallas Cowboy player Greg Hardy in the main event.
