The City of Killeen is offering financial assistance with utilities and rent for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The assistance is made possible through the CARES Act and will only be available to residents within the City of Killeen.
In order to qualify, applicants must be Killeen residents, must have lost their jobs or experienced a reduction in hours of employment or are unable to work due to a COVID-19 related situation.
Funding is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The city will pay utility bills like water, sewer, and garbage directly to the account.
Assistance will be provided for bills from March 27 and after.
Rental assistance may be provided for expenses from March 27 and after as well.
All rent payments will be made directly to the property manager or owner.
Applications are available on the city’s website.
Only one application per household will be accepted.
Once the application is completed with all required documentation, the city will review it.
Officials say it will take at least 3 days to process the information.
Applicants will be notified if they have been approved.
