Hospital staff lined the hallway as Ascension Providence celebrated the discharge of its first COVID-19 patient to recover.(KWTX)

Ascension Providence staff members celebrated the first discharge of a recovered COVID-19 patient from the hospital Thursday evening.

"Today, we celebrated our first ICU COVID-19 patient discharged," a video posted on the hospital's Facebook page said.

The post with the video says, "Today, we called our first 'Code Sunshine' and discharged an ICU COVID-19 patient home."

"Team members lined the halls to cheer as 'Walking on Sunshine' played. We're grateful for moments like these."

In McLennan County, 66 people have tested positive for the virus.

Local health officials said 34 patients have recovered.

Two McLennan County residents have died after contracting the virus.
