TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) A local hospital chaplain has given a lot more than just his time in the last 35 years.
On Friday afternoon at the blood center at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Mark Labaj, a chaplain supervisor at Baylor Scott & White in Round Rock, made his 100th donation.
Labaj first donated blood more than three decades ago as a way to get a free car seat for his firstborn child.
He gave blood a second time and felt like the process was so easy, he'd do it again.
After a few more donations, medical professionals invited him to a donor dinner where he was able to hear firsthand from patients whose lives had been saved by the gift of blood.
Since then there's been no stopping the chaplain who now averages six donations a year.
