Man found dead on area ranch died of self-inflicted gunshot wound

MILLS COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) A missing man whose body was found after an intensive weekend search in Mills County died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Mills County Sheriff Clint Hammonds said Wednesday.

Jason Hatchett, 41, was reported missing Saturday.

Searchers found his body at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday about a half-mile from the house in which he lived on a 1,000-acre ranch.

Services have been scheduled for the 1997 Zephyr High School graduate.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Blaylock Funeral Home at 1914 Indian Creek Rd. in Brownwood.

The funeral service begins at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church 15 1815 Coggin Ave. in Brownwood.

Burial follows at Elkins Cemetery.
