Killeen: Middle school student detained over ‘imitation weapon’

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A Live Oak Ridge Middle School student was detained Thursday after a classmate reported that an “imitation weapon” had been thrown over a fence at the school at 2600 Robinett Rd. in Killeen.

“The matter was immediately reported to the Killeen ISD police who aggressively investigated the matter, identified and then apprehended the student,” district spokeswoman Ramona L. B. Bellard said in a brief press release.

“We are proud of the student who saw and immediately reported this to school officials,” she said.

“We will continue to work closely with police to investigate any potential threat to the safety of our students and we will always deal aggressively with any such report,” she said.
