The mother of a senior at Vanguard Preparatory School in Waco is using her talents to keep her son’s classmates safe and united during the pandemic.

Roxanna Robles is a seamstress and she used her skill to create Vanguard face masks bearing the message "Class of 2020 Senior Strong."

Robles made each mask by hand and put them inside bags with an encouraging note for each senior at Vanguard.

She says she wanted to remind them they will get through this and that this will only make them stronger.

“They are sad and need encouragement so I wanted to do something nice for them,” Robles said.

Bill Borg, the head of the Vanguard Preparatory School, says he knows his Vanguard Vikings will make it through this.

“We want them to finish strong. I want them to know we are thinking of them and we will celebrate even if it is in June,” Borg said.

Borg is hopeful his seniors will have an in-person graduation even if it is in the summer.
