KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Each grave at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery is now accompanied with Christmas decor.

They were presented a Christmas wreath which came to a total of more than 7,000 this year.

Saturday marked the 10th annual wreath laying ceremony.

Every year, volunteers prepare and place thousands of wreaths at each grave.

Many friends and family paid their respects to loved ones after the holiday additions were made, including holiday marine, Daniel Kariuki and his son.

"We're here just to remember our brothers and sisters that rest in peace at the cemetery. They are gone but not forgotten. That's what I'm trying to teach my son here as an example of participating and helping out in society and remembering those who have died for our freedom,” he said.

Friends of the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery is the nonprofit group that makes this project happen every year. They are asking for more volunteers to help retrieve the wreaths for storage January 14th at 10 a.m.
