TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Police Thursday identified a teenager who was found shot to death in a Temple park as Andrew Bryan, 15.

Officers who responded to reports of gunfire at around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday in Jackson Park at 925 North 4th St. found the shooting victim.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenage suspect ran east after the shooting and was believed to be hiding in a home in the 900 block of North 8th Street, Officer Shawana Neely said.

Officers established a perimeter around the shooting scene and requested the department's SWAT team.

During the search police closed 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th Streets in East Temple and Lamar and Jefferson schools were on soft lockdown, Neely said.

The suspect surrendered just after 11 a.m. and was taken to the Temple Police Department's juvenile processing office, Neely said.

A resident who lives nearby, and asked not to be identified, witnessed the shooting and called 911.

"I heard two gunshots. I ran to my window and looked out," the witness said.

"One male shot another one four times. When he got through, he ran."

The witness said he called 911 and rushed outside to the victim. He said he was heartbroken when he noticed it was a teenager.

"He doesn't get to grow up and have a family," the witness said.

"He lost it all in a blink of an eye."
