A local soldier back home from a recent deployment surprised his four children after a basketball game Saturday in Killeen.
The special moment is something they'll always remember.
Sgt. Christopher Ramirez was deployed for 10 months and toured Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia and Germany.
Christopher Ramirez says the moment seeing his children for the first time is hard to describe.
"The feeling...I can't even explain the feeling. Just being away from my kids for so long and finally being back with them is amazing," he said.
His wife, Stephanie Ramirez, was part of the plan to surprise their children.
"They brought him back a day early which was yesterday pretty late," she said. "We kept it a secret all night, built up and I was like 'you know what, we have to surprise the girls and boys. They're going to be so excited.'"
Their two daughters, ages 7 and 10, were participating in a basketball tournament at the Lions Club Park.
Stephanie Ramirez says she's happy to have her husband back.
"I love him so much. So we've been together going on 12 years this year. I mean, to have my best friend back is the best," Stephanie Ramirez said.
Although only one of the teams won, the biggest win on the day was having their family back together.
