BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) Police were investigating Friday after a teenager who was struck in the face in Bellmead in what evidently was an accidental shooting was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Officers found the 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released, after responding to a report of the shooting at around 11 p.m. in a mobile home park on East Harris Avenue, Bellmead police Lt. Brenda Kinsey said.
They determined that the victim and another teen were playing with a gun when the weapon discharged.
The injured teenager was taken first to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco and then was transferred to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple in critical but stable condition, Kinsey said.
No charges have been filed.
