TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Police were looking for two suspects Tuesday after a local woman was shot repeatedly during a home invasion in the 1100 block of South Terrace Street in Temple.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in stable condition.

The shooting was reported at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim told officers two men knocked on the door and then opened fire when she opened it.

“Neither suspect made any demands, but left the residence with the victim’s cellphone,” police spokeswoman Shawana Neely said.

The men were gone when police arrived.

The two are black and were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, Neely said.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified said she heard the shooting and called 911.

The neighbor said the woman was shot in the chest and thigh and told her that one of the men said, “I have a message from your boyfriend,” before she opened the door.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-729-TIPS.
