Residents take part in Small Business Saturday

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) The day after Black Friday, people from around Central Texas were shopping small.

In downtown Temple, local leaders encouraged those in the area to get out and support local stores.

The movement is part of "Small Business Saturday," a nationally held event that is backed by American Express.

Every 67 cents of each dollar spent at a small business stays in their local community on the Saturday.

The event began back in 2010.

Outside of Temple other communities in China Spring, Hewitt, and Killeen participated.
