The resignation is effected immediately.

Ordones, who has been the college’s head softball coach since 2003, was placed on leave on April 27, a week before the start of the Region V North tournament in McKinney.

A personnel issue was involved, but no further details were released.

Assistant coach Jessica Smith has taken over his responsibilities.

The Highlassies finished their regular season Monday with a doubleheader against North Central, winning the opening game 3-2 and losing the second 9-1.

MCC competes beginning Saturday in the Region V North Tournament at Craig Ranch in McKinney where the Highlassies faced Grayson in the opening game.

Ordones joined the MCC staff at assistant baseball coach in 2001.

From 1982 to 2000 he was the head baseball coach at Connally High School.

During his tenure, he has led the softball team to two conference championships, four regional championships and four national tournament trips.
